People often come to us unsure of which service they need. And that's completely understandable — the language around mental health and relationship support can be confusing. So let's break it down simply.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a one-to-one (or sometimes group) conversation with a trained professional. It's a space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences — whether that's anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity, or simply feeling stuck.
The focus is on you. Your inner world. Your healing.
What is Mediation?
Mediation involves two or more people who are in conflict — whether that's a couple, family members, or colleagues. A trained mediator helps facilitate a calm, structured conversation so that all parties can be heard and work towards resolution.
The focus is on the relationship between people, and finding a way forward together.
How Do You Know Which One You Need?
Ask yourself this: Is this something I'm working through internally, or is there a relationship that needs repairing?
- If you're struggling emotionally and need a safe space to process — counselling is likely the right fit.
- If there's a breakdown in communication between you and someone else — mediation may be more helpful.
- Sometimes people need both, and that's okay too.
At KGC Foundation, Both Are Free.
Whether you need individual counselling or relationship mediation, we offer both — at no cost. You don't need to figure it all out before you reach out. Just tell us a little about what's going on and we'll help you find the right support.
You don't have to navigate this alone.
